[Husker] Sittler

I read this when it came out and thought the guy echoed a lot of the
concerns that I have about Callahan.

A few thing in response to your comments, Bob:

- Whether or not Sittler lives in Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri, Texas, or
Colorado is irrelevent. The piece stands by itself with regards to
Callahan's disrespect towards a team that historically has been our
greatest rivalry. The piece may not have been published in Ames, Iowa,
because it's not relevant to the Iowa State/Nebraska relations.

- Perhaps Sittler moved to Oklahoma to be an ambassador between NU and OU
fans. Given his status, perhaps he is. If so, he is certainly doing a
better job at it than Bill Callahan at this point.

- Where do you see it as hollow when he is is closer to the situation than
I am given I have (traitorously?) moved to Minnesota? He has a unique
perspective on it, and this is an opinion piece, not reporting. (And I
certainly didn't move to Minnesota because it's in BigTenelevenland.)

- If the new head coach can't win, his "not getting it" won't buy him any
fans, and therefore won't buy him the support he'll need if he's teetering
on the edge in a couple years. If he's that ignorant, AND he can't win, he
doesn't need to be the head coach at Nebraska. I would hope that
(regardless of winning or losing) we have a coach who shows a high level
of respect for our opponents because I believe that's important to success
(on the field or off) when coaching at the Div IA level.

He brings up Barry Switzer as an example, a great example. I think I'm
like most Nebraskans in that I "hated" Barry Switzer for his ability to
beat us on a constant basis, but respected him as a football coach,
although ultimately it was his inability to stay within the rules that was
his downfall regardless of his record.

Regardless of how much he wins, I don't want Gary Barnett to be the coach
of Nebraska. I have little respect for the way he handles his program or
himself. Yes, I'm comparing Bill Callahan to Gary. I hope that comparison
isn't valid.
