[Husker] RB to LB Position Switches? (A down-time on the list
question)

Since no ones talking much, here's a football related question.
We see a few of college QBs turn into NFL WRs (or TEs, or DBs (go
J-Lo!) Or whatever Matt Jones turns out to be...
My question: why don't some RBs make darn good LBs? I always thought
Dan Alexander would have been a great middle linebacker, speed and
size-wise - maybe didn't have the insticts for the position, I dunno.
But he was a sick athlete and a H.S. wrestling champion... why not?
You take a guy who fumbles or can't catch? LB. Not exactly 4.5 speed?
LB! Too fat? LB!
I'm sure there's more to the position than lining up and running after
people; I won't pretend to know all the subtle nuances, but... Jay
Foreman's getting a check for at least $600K from the Raiders this
year. Lawrence Phillips was probably a better athlete, and he would
like some of that money. :~)
I guess this is an issue now with Leon Jackson in a way, or Grixby to a
lesser extent. A kid fills a role on his team, and next thing you
know, that's all he is. I'm guessing our current coaching staff puts
players in the position that they're most likely to get drafted for.
Crouch would have been a cornerback!
Happy Friday,
~m
