I have never been a major Cochell fan but he did not deserve
to be ridden out of town on this rail. The player he spoke
of   wanted him to stay on. Another black player on the
squad had the same view as did the father of the first
athlete. This is another example of not saying anything that
might make anyone uncomfortable taken to its logical
extreme.

Oklahoma baseball coach Larry Cochell resigned today,
because of an  off-camera racial slur he made during
interviews with ESPN.

Cochell had been OU's coach since 1991 and coached OU to the
1994 CWS title.

Assistant coach Sunny Golloway has been named the interim
coach. --
