If you go back to the pre-Devaney years, both Ed and Sam Schwartzkopf
lettered for the Huskers in the late 30's, there are probably others 
from the past whose athletic accomplishments have been overshadowed by
their political accomplishments.

Likewise, I'm sure there are quite a few former athletes at other schools
whose political careers were unremarkable and thus not widely known, or
who were more successful but whose athletic background is no longer 
considered particularly relevant.
