I graduated with Kent from Lincoln East the same year, 1971. East was Class A champs that year. (amazing final game against Papillion with 6-11 Mike Heck).
Kent was quick, athletic, and an amazing shooter. He was, quite literally, impossible to cover. In 1971 he set the state tourney scoring record; 3 games and something like 115 points. That record was broken a year or two later by a Class C or D kid, I don't remember his name.
Kent did go to UNL. If memory serves me right his first year or two he was getting some playing time under Cipriano. Then Moe Iba took over and Kent pretty much rode the bench the rest of the way. By that time he was also more committed to his premed studies. He went on to become a very accomplished physician in Lincoln.

Kent Reckaway - Anybody remember him? Good Shooter
from Lincoln East. Not the best player ever though.
Does anybody remember a guy named Gregory from Omaha
Burke? Mid 1970's. He was such a good shooter from
long range that his teammates would set 2 man screens
25 ft. from the basket. Gregory would run in behind
the screen and let her fly. I remember watching him
in the state tournament. He was un-conscious.
