Record wise I would agree with you Neal, but there are
two glaring differences between this team and some of
Nees last teams (I'm sure that many posters can think
of more then two.) 1. you dont see the lack of
discipline or heart from this team that you did with
Nees teams. 2. You dont see the players from this team
boycotting the coach as you did with Nee. When Barry
was hired the program had just went through these
things and I doubt that many players were jumping at
the chance to come here. It takes some time to rebuild
your reputation and get good players to take a look at
your program after things like that happen. We seem to
be on that track now with this years freshmen and next
years recruits. How many 4 or 5 star football players
did CU land this year? After their problems how many
do you think even gave CU a serious look? It will take
them some time to get it back also. And yes I relize
that their problems are far more serious then NUs
bball problems were but it still takes time. NU has
never been a national powerhouse in bball and then
when we finally start getting fairly good we start to
have the problems we did. Dont you think that made
some of the better players that were looking at NU
question our commitment to the bball program. It
doesnt take much for a good player to say heck with it
I think I will go elsewhere and play. I think Barry
has us on the right track and we will be better off
with him then without him.
