Are you serious? Gordon was the #2 pick in the MLB Draft and is represented by IMG, a company known for getting players signed to contracts (not holding out a la Scott Boras's clients). He has nothing left to prove in college, will get a signing bonus of several million dollars, will be playing A or AA ball for the Royals within a month, will be a September call-up and in KC this fall and a regular in that line-up by the 2007 season, if not sooner. He was rated by Baseball America prior to the draft as either the #1 or #2 prospect available that was closest to playing in the big leagues.
