Conventional baseball wisdom says you NEVER intentionally put the
tying or winning run on base in the 9th inning.  

Yes, there were some strange coaching moves, by both teams, not all of
which paid off.  Yes, there were errors made by players that are normally
pretty reliable, probably because of the pressure.  

What really ticked me off was the 3 foot wide strike zone.  Yeah, I know,
it was being called that wide for both teams, but umpires should not have
the ability to redefine the strike zone from one game to the next.

That was one of the wider strike zones I remember seeing in a baseball game.  
The worst was in the one-game playoff between the Cubs and the Braves 
a few years ago.  Greg Maddux (then with Atlanta) had a strike zone so wide
that Sammy Sosa couldn't have reached some 'strikes' with a broomstick!
There were more than a few unreachable 'strikes' yesterday, too.
