[Husker] Baseball 2006

The Huskers should be very good over the next several seasons as they have a lot of young talent. Their 2006 starting roster should look something like this:

C: Hightower (Soph)
1B: Buckman (Sr)
2B: Opitz (Soph)
SS: Werhle (Soph)
3B: ???
LF: Adams (Sr)
CF: Nimmo (Soph)
RF: Gerch (RSoph)
DH: Buchanan (Soph)

S1: Chamberlain (Jr)
S2: Dorn (Soph)
S3: Buchanan (Soph)????

Closer: Jensen (Sr)**If he returns

Really that leaves us needing to find an everyday 3B and some middle releif pitching, although the roster next year will have 6 RHP and 2 LHP not listed above who are coming back (not including incoming freshman). 

The big question will be what happens with the coaching staff - my prediction would be that Anderson stays and Childress leaves, although with the money that baseball is brining in SP might be moved to pay to keep both and then it just comes down to egos and if Childress wants to be a Head Coach or not.

Good coaching, a talented returning roster and facilities that are second to none are all very positive signs that Husker Baseball will continue to grow and prosper - at least I am hoping so.
