No kidding, the possibility of a bunt that drew Gordon in to
put 2 on doesn't happen. But the "what if" game just makes
me more miserable about the whole thing. The game
management issues confused me too. I thought the 7th inning
was a little early for pinch hitting when the bottom of the
order had actually been doing OK.

need > that pitching depth to step up

I just hope we get to see it. An emotional loss like this
can be tough on a team. Outhitting a team 12-9 and losing
7-4 is painful. The good thing is they have a day to shake
it off and come back focused.

What did bother me was that once O'Day came in, it seemed as
if they just mentally checked out at the plate.

Unfortunately, unlike the Big 12 tournament, the quality of
these teams is a tad higher. Mistakes all too often lead to
results like last night. Nebraska blinked, Florida didn't.

I won't be surprised to see ASU use a Johnny Wholestaff
approach against Nebraska tomorrow and that often spells
trouble for NU bats. They are going to need to score early
and keep ASU off the score board.

It has been a great season regardless of what happens
tomorrow. The pitching staff far exceded expectations with
the great additions of Dorn and Chamberlain and the offense
has been about what was expected with some pleasant
surprises from the freshmen.

This team really has over-acheived and shown a lot of heart
in winning the Big 12 titles, regional and super regional.
IF this coaching staff can stay together for a few more
years, NU could easily become a perennial at the CWS.
