Greetings,
Here is what I know about CWS tickets right now. First, the Nebraska Athletic Department received an allotment of 700 reserved seat tickets for the Friday session, 350 tickets for the Sunday session. Those tickets will first be given to the families of players, coaches, athletic department officials, etc. with the remaining tickets offered to season ticket holders and boosters (based on priority points) via a lottery, the results of which will be announced Tuesday.
I know that yesterday afternoon in about the 6th inning I was able to purchase a book of 10 GA tickets from www.CWSOmaha, the ticketing site for the CWS. I do not know if tickets are still available there or not. Those tickets were $50 a booklet with another $25 for FedEx shipping.
Lastly, I am sure there will be quite a few scalpers and ticket brokers that will be more than happy to lighten the pockets of any Husker fans who just head to the 'Blatt hoping to score tickets. I can't imaging paying $200 for a reserved ticket to an oppening session CWS game but I am sure that there are plenty of people that will.
My dad and I will be heading down from Minneapolis on Thursday for a nice Father's Day weekend at the CWS. I will also tell those of you coming from out of town that hotel accomodations are virtually impossible to come by. Every hotel of every major chain is booked full with the closest rooms being in Lincoln. I did find some rooms at Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs, but at a whopping $285/night. Luckily I travel a lot for business so I used my Marriott Elite status to get a room at the Omaha Marriott, at the bargain price of $199/night.
It should be madness all over Omaha and with the way this team is pitching, playing defense and getting timely hitting I think we have a real shot at making some noise in this tournament...and maybe even win the whole darn thing!!!!
See ya in Omaha!!!!
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Volk
