Mike,

sorry for taking so long to answer the query about the new field, must
have missed the posting on the newsgroup.
was out there a few weeks ago as we began to take out the old field.
as you may recall the old field was a bit of a rush job and laid simply
on a drainage matt over the asphalt.
we had to do that because the asphalt, which was supposed to be porous
didn't drain well because of all the glue that had been used to keep
the old astroturf in place.

the new field will have a conventional crushed stone base with drainage
pipes laid like a herringbone under the stone. the field will be
relatively flat allowing Coach Callahan to run the west coast offence
much more efficiently.

also the new field will have all its numbers, hash marks, endzone
letters and center field logo permanently inlaid which will give it a
much sharper look.

must tell all of you how impressed I was with the very businesslike, no
nonsense approach of AD Steve Pederson and his aides Boyd Eppley and
John Ingram.

the new indoor will also be done in early July.

regards

John
