How bout "Army retreated from their position in Ames in 2006............."
 
I wonder how West Point's athletic budget is handled.  Does that mean that as a taxpayer that I have somehow contributed to Iowa State's bottom line?   Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!

Army backed out of an agreement to play at Iowa State
in 2006; Iowa State will still go to West Point this
September.  Army will be replaced by Eastern Michigan,
and Army will have to pay the difference in
guarentees.  Army was to receive $125K to play in
Ames, but Eastern will get $400K.

Softball coach Rhonda Revelle has been promoted to
associate athletic director as the senior
administrator of all women's sports at Nebraska.  In
that capacity, she will replace Dr. Barbara Hibner,
who will retire at the end of the year.  Revelle will
continue to be softball coach.

On the bad news front, redshirt freshman Ty
Steinkuhler has been arrested and charged with third
degree assault after a weekend disturbance with his
roommate.  Steinkuhler is the son of 1983 Outland and
Lombardi award winner Dean Steinkuhler.

On the good news front, both Barrett Ruud (Tampa Bay)
and Fabian Washington (Oakland) have signed with their
NFL teams.
