Dennis Wagner probably did the best coaching on the
staff last season in putting together a servicable
line for 2004 with a whole new system. I think the
comfort level of the linemen in year 2 will be even
higher, so I look for more improvement here. However,
the depth is probably only going to be improved
slightly. Cornealius Thomas and Andy Christensen are
the only new linemen I expect contributions from in
2005 versus 2004. First year offensive linemen rarely
make a major impact on the o-line, though there are
always some exceptions. I would say that we're still
aways here from getting the "pipeline" flowing again,
only because it's going to take time to get everything
flowing.

As for the defensive line, the new JuCo's of Barry
Cryer and Ola Dagundro wreaked havoc with the
first-team offensive line in the spring game. That
added depth will allow starters LeKevin Smith and
Titus Adams to stay fresher, and open up some creative
possibilities, such as playing Adams at end
occasionally to throw a new look. I don't think the
depth has been as much of an issue until the last year
or so.
