I think an article looks more objective when one agrees with it.  The article seems more editorial to me. e.g.:

"It was apparent to most observers that change was necessary, and Pederson ultimately took the responsibility of taking action that he knew would accomplish the program's goals."

Not to say I didn't enjoy reading it. Thanks for passing it on.
