Before we get in an uproar or insinuate that CU is doing something inappropriate here, people on the list should understand that the NCAA MANDATES that each team going to a bowl game gets a bowl package. There is a limit to what the combined cost of the package can cost. That exact price escapes me right now, but I beleive it is around $500. That price is also a little misleading because most of the items have a promotional price that is offered by the manufacturer for these items. As an example, a recent bowl package included Oakley watches that have a MSRP of around $350, but a promotional value of $175 (or something similar).
Typical items found in bowl packages over the last couple of years include watches, throwback jersey's, leather jackets, portable DVD players, MP3 players and handheld computers/Palm Pilots.
Oh, and not just the players get the packages - so do coaches & athletic department staff, etc.
FYI.
Sincerely,
