     Turner Gill is bypassed for the job at Sam Houston State.

     I realize many things enter into a coaching hire but on paper this 
should have been a shoo in for Gill.  Sam Houston State is not even 
Division I-A.  It is Division I-AA.  They hired a guy named Todd Whitten 
who was the Head Coach at Tarleton State which is located in Tarleton 
Station, TX.  I personally had never heard of the college or the town.  
Tarleton State is part of the Texas A&M system.  It appears it would be 
like UNO or UNK.  A lot of people wanted either Pelini or Gill at NU to 
replace Solich.  It doesn't seem others are really that interested in 
them.  Again, I understand the politics but if Gill, with all his 
experience at one of the premier programs in the country, can't land a 
job at Sam Houston State against a coach from Tarleton State he could 
have a tough time landing a job.
