I remember Ritch Bahe (former Husker footballer) used to shoot free throws when he played for Fremont High School with an actual jump, just like his normal shot from the floor. Seemed to work for him, he was an excellent player in high school.

Most likely what that statistic was for was if the
defense got the rebound on the missed freethrow. There
would be no defense on a made freethrow. As a
highschool coach one of the things that we try to
teach our kids is to find a rythem at the line. To do
the same thing everytime. I.E. if you dribble the ball
3 time before looking up at the rim and you make four
or five in a row using that rythem then keep doing
that everytime you practice or shoot a freethrow in a
game. Also shoot it like you would a jump shot just
dont jump. Too many times kids think they dont have to
use their legs, that they can just flip the ball to
the basket, and this causes them to push the ball
instead of shoot it causing a flatter shot. Most of
the really good freethrow shooters that I have seen
will shoot freethrows the same as they would a jump
shot.
