The cynic in me would suggest that the Big XII has superior free throw
defense! (This is actually a meaningless statistic that the NBA used
to keep. I don't know if it's still maintained as an official
statistic.)

I agree with the others who suggest that fundamentals are down due to
an emphasis on dunking and other made-for-ESPN trickery.
