I am talking about coaches hired from the outside. I can't find
documentation to show this but I believe a great percentage of the Division
IA coaches hired form the outside for 2005 had previous Head Coaching
experience. Obviously that doesn't happen in 100% of the cases but over
the years it would seem to be the case. Charlie Weis, if I have all the
info, was only a HC on the High School level but has been an assistant in
the NFL for 15 years and the last five as the Offensive Coordinator of the
Patriots. To have Head Coaching experience on a resume is not a negative,
IMHO.

I would agree. It is that way in all walks of life. If I intend to
go anywhere in the company I work for I can't continuously say what I think
and do what I feel like doing no matter how it rubs anyone.
