One factor that might have to be considered is game attendance. Suppose a
team needs to win two games to reach the championship game. Would the fans
travel to the first two games and the championship game? Would they have
the money to attend all three, or just one? Which game? Do they go to the
first round and then not have the cash to go to the next round? Or does
the NCAA not worry about the participating schools's fan base traveling and
make the championship game a corporate and celebrity event like the Superbowl?
This may be one of the main arguments against a championship tournament.
