Ever heard of tongue in cheek? I was only taking a good natured
swipe at myself. Sorry if that didn't come through.

Okay, maybe the words "kept all the assistants" wasn't used but the
implication from some was that Callahan really missed the boat when he
didn't retain a great share of Solich's staff.

I have never said Callahan should have cleaned house. I have never
said some of Solich's coaches shouldn't have been retained. The point I am
trying to make is Husker fans shouldn't have been surprised Callahan
brought in his own people. Coaches just do it that way right, wrong, or
indifferent. And, I used Solich as another example as he is bringing his
people into Ohio. Even though they had a bad season last year there may
have been a coach or two on the Ohio University staff that was tenured and
respected by the Ohio fans. Solich is just following the normal practice
of populating his staff with his people. And I have tried to make the
point it is certainly understandable why coaches would do that.
That is really all I have been saying the whole time. I haven't been
defending what Callahan did nor have I said he did the wrong thing. I am
just saying it wasn't surprising.
