I have always been a big proponent of a playoff. But I have to admit
I am like virtually every fan. I am only looking at the competitive nature
and production of a National Championship to that end. I am interested in
being more fair in producing a champion than the present BCS system. I
rarely look at the financial part of it. One has to keep in mind that the
financial side of it is the ONLY thing a college president is interested
in. They really don't care who the National Champion is or how they got
there as long as the system is making money. And, the present system IS
making money so they aren't driven to look at different ways of doing things.
I am like you. I personally believe a playoff system would make at
least as much money as now and maybe more. Fan interest would be peaked I
would think. The problem is the presidents would have to be absolutely
convinced. And , they are like anyone else. If I am doing well now why
take a chance? Unless they can be shown a windfall profit I doubt we will
be a playoff very soon.
