As I was watching the game last night it struck me that OU doesn't have an offensive identity.
Most great team do.
Heritage NU power/option/play action.
USC/Miami/Michigan/Ohio State pro offense.
Florida - Fun and Gun.
Utah - Urban trickery.
When things got tough OU didn't have anything to go to and they got rattled.
OU's thing is to out athletes opponents with great individual talent. They do the same in the kicking game. Texas is the same. Problem is when they run into a team with equal talent this doesn't work that well and without a great defense they were in trouble.
The thing that made them great recently was defense (they shut FSU down in 2000). This year their defense isn't what it was - weak DB's and less talent on DL (Tommy Harris) and at linebacker (they had a great one graduate) and safety (Roy) than they have had in the past.
