I would attribute this to another difference between the college game
and the NFL game. In the NFL, the "half-life" of a good team seems to
be around 2-3 years ... after about 2 years, free agency, injuries,
and age will cause about half your original team to be somewhere else,
and many of them will be playing against you sometime soon. That,
perhaps, makes it difficult for NFL coaches to take the kind of
attitude about players leaving that we have seen our NU staff take in
the past. As you say, I hope this is another college attitude that BC
assimilates while he's here.
