I had the great good fortune of seeing Bobby Newcombe at the New 
Mexico State High School Track and Field Championships where he won 
five events in a sport which I know infinitely better than football, 
but I never saw Bobby in a football game. It was clear that Bobby was 
going to be a standout at NU, but after his blown knee he was never 
quite the same athlete as before.

All I can say about Beck from seeing him once on television is that 
he seems to be an entirely different kind of athlete than Bobby was, 
neither better nor worse - - just different.

It would be hard if not impossible to compare them.
