Being associated with great organizations and coaches does add
luster, but 1) he got those jobs because he impressed folks,
2) he was successful in those jobs, 3) after those jobs, the
people he worked with have high opinions of him and his work.

WRT (1), when NU hired him, he was reputed to be one of the most
promising position coaches in the NFL? Why did people think that
and convince NU it was true?

WRT (2), I kept hearing yesterday how difficult it was for an
assistant coach to take the team to a bowl game as an interim
in place of the head coach. NU didn't have that problem with
Pellini last year. I don't know how much credit Pellini gets
for continued success at OU, but he sure turned around NU's defense,
which seemed to fall apart under the new coaches. Pellini did a
great job as defensive co-ordinator at NU.

WRT (3), he's got recommendations from every one who has worked
with him and who knows him, including the Husker players he coached
and the head coaches he worked for. Are you telling us all of those
people just fell for his good "publicity"? What's in it for you to
run down Pellini as "luster from being associated with great ...
organizations [and] ... good publicity"?
