    I never refereed on the Big 8-12 level but I did a lot of high scholl officating which I guess doesn't make me current but I do remember.  The block/charge call is by far and away the toughest call for a basketball official.  If all that is involved is how you described it then it is pretty cut and dried.  It is an offensive foul.  But when the call is made another thing that has to enter into the call is whether or not the defensive player established position and that is the tough part.  That the call has to be made in a split second makes it more difficult.  Then add in there are eight other players moving on the floor and maybe one cuts in front of you just as you are about to make the call and you really don't see the whole thing.  It is a tough call.  I officiated football and basketball and umpired baseball all on the high school level.  Basketball was by far the toughest.
