Huskers improve to 6 and 8 in conference play (tied for 8th with Missouri)
and 13 and 12 overall with a big 76-69 win in Ames today.
Nebraska pounded Iowa State on the boards today by a 51-37 margin. Really
exposed the Cyclones one given weakness. Freshman Aleks Maric had 13 points and
12 rebounds (11 and 10 in the first half). He went down late with an ankle
injury, but returned later. Wes Wilkensen had 16 points. Jason Dourisseau
scored 19, Joe McCray had 11.
The Cyclones lost their first five Big XII games, won their next seven, and
have now lost the last two to A&M and Nebraska. Nebraska takes on Colorado on
Wednesday night in the Devaney Center, then travel to Manhattan to close the
regular season next Saturday.
Very impressive game today for NU. The officiating was so "questionable"
that even mild-mannered Barry Collier got a technical. Three Big XII road wins
on the season for Nebraska (Colorado, Baylor and Iowa State).
