It would be my guess that most "winning coaches" would
be thought of as men with great character. Coaches
with poor character usually dont last very long. The
University will get tired of them, the fans will get
tired of them and the players will get real tired of
them. They may win for a short period of time but will
not last for 25 years. I would doubt that you could
name a coach with more then 15 years experience, and a
winning percentage of 60% or better who would be
described as a man of poor character. If you look at
the men many think of as great coaches, TO, Bobby
Bowden, Joe Pa, Alonzo Stagg, Eddie Robinson, just to
name a few, they  are more often then not, considered
men of great character just as much as winning
coaches. These men were kept around just as much for
there character as they were for how much they have
won. Winning may have got them the job but their
character helped them keep it.
