Bob,
So what is the point of all of this " What did Osborne know and when did he know it"?
I haven't heard anyone call him a saint, but winning games wasn't the only thing that
kept him his job. His character was equally important. Switzer won a lot of games
at Oklahoma, but a few years on probation cost him his job.

I wouldn't expect you to name names but could you give at least a time frame when this happened. The reason I am curious is because below I include a clip from the article which appeared in last Sunday's Journal-Star. The article would indicate that after around 1985 or so (TO doesn't say what year testing started other than it was the early 80's) if someone did indeed test positive at the very least TO doesn't remember it.

Former Nebraska head coach Tom Osborne said last week that NU began its own drug-testing program during the early 1980s. Before then, he said, testing methods were generally unreliable.

During the first series of random tests at Nebraska, two or three players tested positive for steroids, Osborne said. The following year, the number dropped to one.

"After that, I can't remember a positive test," Osborne said.
