[Husker] Birkel

As far as I can see Neil, Birkel was an upstanding young man while on
the Husker football team. This incident happened after he left the team
so to lump him in as a criminal that Callahn had to purge from the team
is complete bs. As for coddling players, don't be surprised if Callahan
coddles some of his own players that he recruited. It's a lot easier to
kick off players you didn't recruit from the team than ones you did.
Don't get me wrong, if they're bad eggs and need to go get them out but
don't completely judge Callahan's actions in just the first year. By the
way, he may have not been coddled by Callahan but Incognito did get
several chances with Callahn.

I see Callahan as one whose job it is to clean up this program by
getting rid of criminals like Birkel, drug addicts like David Horne, and
thugs like Richie Incognito. For too long Solich and TO coddled
criminals in the name of winning. No more! There is a new sherrif in
town!

Andy Birkel called Bill Callahan unprofessional. What a 20 year old
would know about professionalism I am not sure. However, it appears
Birkel is the one that is is unprofessional after getting in trouble.
Maybe Callahan had his reasons for treating Birkel the way he did
assuming Birkel was anywhere close to accurate.
