I think TO thought, and I agree, that it is normally better to keep the kid involved with sports and the structure that goes with that, even if he has done some type of infraction. If you say a player can't participate in practice or continue tutoring programs or even live in the dorms anymore, the chance a player will or can get back in the good is greatly diminished. If I remember correctly, didn't the Huskers use (and still may use) a point system that would plus and minus points over time for infractions from being late to murder? (Obviously, some infractions could be more or less points than others, resulting in varying punishments or loss of privileges) Isn't there a players council that has some input into the system also?
