[Husker] Steroids

I personally know people who will shoot up stuff for a couple months at a
time, and then the stuff will leave their system after a while, renedering
them "clean" (but a heck of a lot stronger)- drug testing in it's present
form is a joke, Bob, and I'm sure it's the same at every level. How many
guys in the NFL get caught each year? 4 or 5? Does anyone really think
there's only 4-5 players in the NFL on the juice?

There was this article in the Sunday Journal-Star about testing for
steroids at NU. The article indicates there has been testing of one form or
another since 1980. It also indicates players have been removed from the
team because of steroid use. Osborne stated he could not remember a
positive test after the first series of tests where the first year two or
three tested positive and then the next year one tested positive.

We talk about hearing things second hand on this list and question how
reliable it is. I am going to say something about this steroid issue and I
can't name names for obvious reasons. It is your choice to believe me or
not but this is straight from the horses mouth. I know personally a player
that was a starting linebacker at NU from 1980-1982. He played in the Penn
State game when the end zone got real wide all of a sudden. I know most all
of you would recognize the name. I flat asked him about steroid use when he
was at NU. He said it went on more than one knew and he named names. This
guy isn't a Jose Canseco type as he had nothing to gain by telling me. He
just figured I was a friend and we were having a friendly conversation. Two
of the names he mentioned were players that were awarded for being the best
at their position in the country in different years. I don't say this
because I think NU is any different than any other program. I just find it
is amaz!
ing Osborne for 23 years didn't have one positive test. Of course, TO
isn't saying no one was on steroids. He is just saying that of those tested
no one tested positive.
