I can't presume to speak for Gary, but from my perspective here are a 
couple of problems:

1) Copyright material is the property of the copyright holder. The 
unauthorized use of it constitutes theft of intelletual property.
2) In using others' copyright material, the thief potentially 
conspires to to further unauthorized dissemination of it.
