[Husker] Dailey

I completely agree and would like to add that there were times last
season where the game plan was, IMHO, horrible. It was very apparent
when we ran the offense we ran against OU that should have been used the
week before against ISU. Especially when Ross had 77 yards on seven
carries. Instead we have Joe chucking it up way to many times. I also
want to know what happened to the slant pass. This seemed to be the pass
route that Dailey was hitting more than not. It just disappeared and for
no apparent reason. Now I will go ahead and chalk some of this up to
Callahan and Dailey getting on the same page. Finally, I do think Dailey
being yanked in the T Tech game did more harm than good for his psyche.
IMHO, I thought he made great strides in that game. He was getting rid
of the ball when he needed to or tossing it out of bounds. He did have
the one pick but that was more of a phenomenal effort on the d-ends part
than what Dailey did. I know Callahan said he was looking for a spark
but I'm sure Dailey was despondent by being pulled. I believe that set
Dailey back a couple of games. Hopefully, with another spring and summer
to get the playbook down and to get even more familiar with current O
players and getting to know the new ones, Joe will succeed.

A player can really grow from year one of action to year two. Dailey,
for all intents and purposes, was a "true freshman" last year. Most of

my Husker friends and relatives around me say that Dailey is terrible
and that he won't see any action next year. I tell them he had a lot
thrown at him, showed some flashes of talent and I love his attitude.
He's a trooper and he's studying and working hard. Whether his
physical abilities are there for this level of passing offense, we'll
find out (I'm a bit nervous about his overall accuracy). But I could
see improvement in the mental part of the game as the year went on and
I think that if his physical abilities are there, he will still be in
the picture. To dismiss him completely at this stage of the game has
less to do with objective analysis than it does with emotion. A
comment like "Dailey is undoubtedly done" is pure speculation,
frivolous and gives him less credit that he has earned as a starting
QB.
