[Husker] RE: Osborne: "Faith in the Game"

Mike - I think you are right that something has been lost from the Husker
football program, but I think that something is in fact Tom Osborne.
Despite our desire to see in Solich and the rest of the old staff a
continuation of TO's legacy, that was never going to be a reality.  I
believe the characteristics you (and I) recognized and valued from that era
were built specifically on TO's character, values, and personality.
 
With Osborne's retirement, the character of the program was bound to begin
to change.  All we can do is to hope (demand?) that the evolving character
of the program adhere to the highest standards.  Then watch and wait to see
what eventually defines the "character" of the Callahan program.  We may
have to look back on this from several years down the road to actually
quantify this, however.
