While I agree with the general consensus that very few true freshman
make an impact at the major college level, the 2005 Husker recruiting
class includes 12 players with JUCO experience of which several could
step into the starting roles next year, or at least see significant
playing time, such as:
Zachary Bowman, CB, 6'2", 200
(Three of the top four CB's from last year have departed)
Dontrell Moore, LB, 6'2", 225
Steve Octavien, LB, 6'1", 230
(All of the "Mike" and "Will" LB's listed on the final depth chart are gone)
Ola Dagunduro, DT, 6'2", 315
Barry Cryer, DT, 6'3", 285
(Should provide depth and become part of the DT rotation, Teamer may not
be back)
Justin Tomerlin,TE/DE 6'6", 265
(Should provide depth on either side of the ball, wants to play TE)
QB Zac Taylor and at least a few of the true freshmen should show up on
the depth chart before first game next year. I hope there is at least
one player in this class that can become a dangerous punt returner
(Lucky/Jackson/Rands?) or receiver (Brooks/Hardy).
