> As for what may happen down the road with Kent we'll just have to wait and see. I don't run Pinnacle but if I did, I would make a change (not this season but starting next season) and return Kent to handle the play by play on the basketball games and pair him up with Matt. Kent and Matt would be quite a pair filled with enthusiasm and Kent's delivery is smoother than Randy's as far as play by play goes. I have never met Randy but from what I hear from others he is a very nice person and I certainly have nothing against him.
I always thought Kent was at his best doing basketball. Part of it is
that I think the pace of the game is fast enough that he doesn't have
time to be getting carried away on the mike.
I'm not sure what Jim Rose's best game is, but I have my doubts that
it's football. I had to listen to a couple of games last fall and I
had a lot of trouble following whatever game it was Rose was calling.
I didn't have that problem with Warren Swaine, though I had other problems
with him, he was about as interesting as meat loaf at a church supper.
But at least I could picture the game with him. Watching the highlights
after listing to Rose calling the game is like reading an O. Henry
story, full of surprises.
Kent's biggest problem is that he wasn't Bremser, but thought he
could be. Sadly, the golden days of Husker radio were in the 70's,
and I don't see the Pinnacle situation ever coming up with any voice
to match any of the great announcers of those years. (Even the
ultimate in bland, Dick Perry, laughingly promoted by KFOR as 'Mr Excitement',
would be an improvement.)
