[Husker] Scholarship limit question (Ridiculously Long) (fwd)

In the same vein as the Rick Alloway post below, I am a member of the board
of directors of the Fastbreakers (the women's BB support group) and every
year during our first or second meeting we have a member of the compliance
staff talk to us on what we can and can't do in our meetings with the team
members and coaching staff. The NCAA rules are mind-boggling in their
complexity. As an example I have become good friends with Jina Johansen (
a women's BB player) and her family through the years. My wife and I can
invite the Johansens to our house periodically for a meal prepared by
ourselves. But we are not allowed to serve them a catered meal or would we
be allowed to buy them a meal at a restaurant.

The compliance meeting is always the longest board meeting of the year.

I have a member of the UNL NCAA compliance staff come talk to the students
in my sports broadcasting course each fall. The session is geared just
toward media-related compliance issues, and the students have found it to
be very helpful. I don't know if the compliance folks schedule any such
sessions for the professional media folks, but I imagine they would be
willing to do so if asked.
