1) When ESPN finally switched from the Boise State-Boston College
game to the Alamo Bowl game with about nine minutes left in the first
quarter, I was surprised to see the score at 0-0, although that
changed in a few seconds with NU's first TD pass. Previously I had
fantasized that NU might save everyone time and bother by forfeiting
six points straightaway and accepting the opening kickoff. Later,
watching the replay, I saw that the Huskers had gotten off to a fast
start for what seemed like the first time in living memory.

2) The replay omitted large chunks of several Husker drives and
replaced them with e n d l e s s commercials.

3) On running plays, it was hard to believe the Huskers were using
two freshmen, one sophomore, and one senior rotating at the two
offensive tackle positions. It was much easier to believe on
witnessing the pass plays.

4) Someone mentioned that the Husker kicking game let the team down
by allowing such long punt and kickoff returns. I submit that the
Michigan returner is one of the best in the nation - - if not the
best - - and that he earned those many yards he gained. It was not a
case of "allowing."

5) Zach Bowman's interception was flawless. Next year look for
opponents to stay away from throwing to his side of the field.

6) Swift, Peterson, and Nunn will be returning next year and the year
after that, plus an additional year for Swift and Peterson. I can't
remember such a talented pass-catching triumverate of Husker wide
receivers.
