Herbstreit and May discussed the hypothetical matchup between the 95 Huskers
and the 05 Trojans, part of ESPN's "USC's Place in History". Both gushed
about our athletic, nasty defense They both agreed that athletically the
Blackshirts match up well with the Trojans, and they were definitely not
afraid of anybody or any scheme. Then they shifted to offense and started
talking about Frazier and Phillips and Herbstreit just had to start making
appreciatve noises because words could not convey their greatness. :) Both
agreed that it would be an awesome game had it ever come to pass.

Anyway, in a complete stunner, May actually picks NU 30-24. Herbstreit goes
with the Trojans, thinking that because nobody runs option anymore, it must
be because it doesn't work against "today's defenses". Poor Kirk ... I was
beginning to think he was smarter than that.

Fowler just moderates, but pointed out at least twice that both the ESPN fan
voters and some computer systems rank the 95 team as the greatest college
football team ever.

You can watch the clip on ESPN's site if you missed it on TV.

I think as a service to the football world in general, Huskers.com ought to
provide every game of the 95 season in streaming format, free. Then the
world can remind themselves why the 95 team is King. Heck the players
playing in the Rose Bowl this year were all of 8 to 11 years old and
probably don't realize just what kind of team played that magical season.
