I don't know about the lineman rule, but what about advancing a fumble?
When the center dropped the ball it was no longer a lateral but a fumble.
Or is the rule about advancing fumbels only in ceratin situations?

No one else has mentioned this so I will. On the "play" the next-to-last
lateral was directed toward, and first touched by, an interior offensive
lineman. Isn't that also a penalty? I believe that's how they outlawed
the Fumbleroosky: you can't intentionally give the ball to an offensive
lineman (other than the ends, of course).

had been called it most likely would have been on both teams and been
offsetting and redo on the play. I think we probably would have been ready
for it the second time.
