[Husker] WOW

Wow! is absolutely right. This was the first bowl game I've ever
been to, and it was an *awesome* game to see! I was satisfied early
in the fourth quarter when Michigan pulled away to an 11 point lead,
as the Cornhuskers had played hard and matched the spread. Seeing
Nebraska take it was amazing!

It's a good thing I can write this, because I have absolutely *no*
voice left. There were a ton of folks in red at the game--maybe
half of the over 60,000?

They refs really did a poor job. The interference call against NU
on punt coverage was borderline, but the timing of that hit was
indistinguishable from two other punts. I also did *not* agree with
the touchdown that was reversed, saying it bounced first. We got to
see it a couple of times on the big screen (unlike many of the
questionable calls), and I could see *no* evidence it hit the
ground--certainly not enough evidence to overturn the call on the
field.

I think the bad calls balanced out. There was a pass breakup toward
the end where the Cornhusker defender had his arm around the
receiver just before knocking the ball away--could have easily been
interference. I saw a push that could have been a block in the back
on NU. Just saw Sports Center, and was dismayed that they presented
the bad calls as if they all favored Nebraska--this was definitely
not the case.

Nebraska was really hurt in the kicking game--giving up substantial
return yardage on many kicks. Between that and the turnovers,
Michigan had good field position a lot of the night.

Other highlights: seeing the Riverwalk in a sea of red. Meeting
lister Steve Reichenbach and his family. Made phone contact with
lister Tim Silvey, but we weren't able to hook up in the chaos
before the game.
