[Husker] 800 lb gorilla

Here's my take (posted on www.bapi.net/football), from a gambling
perspective:

Michigan (7-4) vs NEBRASKA (7-5) +10 - Michigan had high hopes coming into
the 2005 season with preseason rankings in the top 5. Unfortunately for
the Wolverines, they stumbled 4 times, by a total of 17 points, and are
missing a January bowl game for the first time in 9 years. Michigan's
strength had been their offense, but this season the rushing game has been
iffy. Sophomore RB Mike Hart, who rushed for 1455 yards last year in his
freshman season, has been injured and only gained 588 yards this season.
He did make it back for Michigan's regular season finale against Ohio
State, but was ineffective, gaining just 15 yards on 9 carries. If
Michigan gets stuck committing to the pass tonight, they'll be in a bit of
trouble tonight. Nebraska's fortunes have relied on their defense this
season and it leads the nation with 43 sacks and ranks 11th in pass
efficiency defense. While the defense looked shaky for the Huskers in the
middle of the season, the Blackshirts rebounded nicely in their last game
at Colorado (7-6), a 30-3 win as a 14 1/2 point dog. The Huskers have been
in transition offensively as HC Bill Callahan uprooted the vaunting
rushing offense and installed the West Coast passing offense last year. QB
Zac Taylor threw for 392 yards against Colorado and RB Cory Ross gained
142 receiving and rushing last game, making the new offense look potent.
Nebraska is happy to be in this bowl game and finished its season with
momentum. You can't say either of those things about Michigan here. I'm
taking the points. Computer says Michigan 26, Nebraska 21. (I'm parlaying
this one with Oklahoma tomorrow.)
