I was shocked at this. Somebody must think we will be good. Or are we over
rated ? i would like to start the year out like we did last year and sneak
up on people.
Heading the pitching rotation with Jaba Chamberlain and Johnny Dorn and
closing games with Brett Jensen is what most of the prognosticators are looking
at. That alone will get you noticed going into a season.
Losing Alex Gordon to the play-for-pay league, an injury to his likely
replacement Bohannan and rumored grade concerns of another starter makes me think
that we've got some holes to fill ... but those returning hurlers are enough
to make you think that you've got a chance. That and the fact that
Nebraska's an established program now ... you've got to have some faith that Anderson
can fill out his squad. On the other hand, both Van Horn and Childress are
long gone now. Seems like they just got here. It'll be interesting to see
how it goes with new assistant coach Dave Bingham.
I have no clue how NU is going to do this year. They've got some issues.
But you could do worse than starting the season with Chamberlain, Dorn and
Jensen. And left-hander Tony Watson looks like he'll be ready for the third
weekend starting slot. Pitching should be good, and that is THE most important
part of a baseball team at any level.
