[Husker] Callahan and Freeman

At the risk of offering something positive about the huskers and the coach,
there is a Husker Note of merit in the LJS this morning
(http://www.journalstar.com/articles/2005/12/23/huskerextra/doc43ab8d35373dc001313608.txt).

It sounds like Bill Callahan (or should I give him the moniker Harry Callahan?)
is not that worried about fickle Freeman's flighty nature.

He said, “We want guys who want Nebraska because this is a unique
situation,” Callahan said. “It’s a special situation and a
special program. If you don’t want to come, it’s OK. It’s not
for everybody.”

He added, “It’s been my experience that guys you have to continue to
work on, and have a high-maintenance (manner) about themselves — a lot of
those guys struggle throughout their careers. Guys who know where they want to
go and have an exactness about their decision, those are usually the guys who
pan out. There’s no confusion. There’s no clutter in their
minds.”

This brings up an interesting point about Freeman, who appeared to be willing to
commit to anyone. If a student athlete is shifting about continuously, it may
not be worth a coach's time and effort to chase him while a real talent gets
away. How many programs were chasing Zack Taylor, and how did he save the
Huskers this year?

He goes on to say that the Huskers are not hurting at the QB spot, and looking
at the injured LBs and next year's DL, I'd have to agree.
