For most recruiting commitments what you say is true, but the Freeman
commitment was different. Callahan gave his WORD to Freeman he would not
recruit any other qbs in exchange for Freeman's WORD to keep his commitment.
Not only could Freeman get more playing time elsewhere, Callahan could
possibly get a better player if he kept recruiting. That was the trade-off
in the promise they made each other. Plain and simple, Freeman, with his
father's encouragement, broke his word. If you don't see the difference, I'm
glad I've never taken your word on anything. Now THAT is sanctimonious. And,
on the same theme, you just said that if you tell your girlfriend you're
going to be faithful you can always cheat on her because you didn't sign
anything, yet. Anyway, I'm sorry if your having trouble at home. I didn't
mean to strike a nerve.
