[Husker] VB questions

A couple things that I have never figured out about VB, and I'd like help on:

Why do the reserve players stand throughout the game?

Why does one player wear a different colored jersy (is it the libero?)?

And why do they wear tight-fitting uniforms?  Is it so that the clothing doesn't
interfere with ball contact?  Mobility?  Or is it to embarass them later in life
like my old basketball uniform with tight shorts and feaux belt, and the
over-the-calf tube socks.  Though they certainly pull it off better than I did.
