Jeff, why do you continually beat the proverbial dead horse on this then
bitch about anyone who brings up their unhappiness with Pedersen or the
program? Besides the fact that in Colorado, they could give a care less
about the football team unless they're in the MNC game. They do not have
the passion for their football team that happens in Nebraska. That's why
some of what occurred and you complain about happened. Furthermore, with
the way he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, Pedersen will never be
a popular figure even if the Huskers win the MNC. He also didn't help
himself out by hiding during our losing streak then coming out after the
CU game with his 'I told you so' attitude. In fact, if the fund raising
doesn't get better, even if the team is playing well, you can say
goodbye to Steve. Callahan seems to be getting his act together and most
Husker fans are giving him time to turn things around so this e-mail,
IMHO, was just some useless needling by you toward any backers of
Solich. Let's just give it a rest!
Sean

Subject: [Husker] Colorado's Situation...
As I watch Sportscenter in my hotel room this morning I am struck by how
similar Colorado's situation is to another university that I know of.
Let's see...
...A new athletic director, not happy with the direction or reputation
of his program has...
...a coach, albeit and admittedly one swirled in controversy, who
follows up an 8-5 season with a 7-5 season, including getting outscored
120-33 in their last 3 games...
...so the AD fires the coach...
...and then decides that the team will be coached by a popular assistant
in the bowl game, a winnable game against an average team...
So this is what we know as the similarities so far, which makes me
wonder how this will play out for CU...
...Will some fans, impressed by a CU win over an average team in the
bowl game annoint that assistant coach as the clear cut choice for the
new Head Coach and as the next great head coach in NCAA history?
...Will an admittedly botched coaching search by the AD result in a new
coach that serves as a continuous lightning rod for controversy and all
that is bad with Colorado Football?
...Will the new AD be criticized for each and every decision that he
makes, even if some of the decisions are sound in logic and practice?
...Will Colorado fans start fan web sites supporting Gary Barnett's new
school?
...And I could go on and on...but the similarities would only get more
and more absurd!
So here's hoping for CU fans that the similarities between their
situation and that other university that I know ends with what we know
to date and that they don't have to spend the next 2 years listening to
people wax nostalgic about how great Barnett was and complain about how
the current state of CU football is in disarray.
And on a seperate note, did anyone notice that NU sold out their Alamo
Bowl ticket allotment that was just shy of 11,000 seats in under 4 days?
How about that the Athletic Department has secured more tickets above
and beyond our allotment, that they also intend to sell out? WOW...I
guess the naysayer folks on the list are right and fan support for SP,
BC and Husker Football sure seems to be waning...huh?
Have a great day and a super weekend!
Jeff
